Northwest, MO (2009-05-19) Holt County Regional Agronomist Wayne Flanery is warning corn producers the grubs are back.
Flanery says he was inspecting several fields last week and found increased white grub activity.
With soil temperatures on the rise he says insects are becoming more active.
Flanery says corn in our region continues to grow slowly with low temperatures, but adds many wet fields await to be planted.
He reminds producers anything put in after May 20th risks increasing yield losses…. But adds there are risks to push wet soil conditions to get corn into the ground, saying there has been some re-planting already because of the standing water.
