MARYVILLE, MO (2013-03-06)The Northwest Missouri State Bearcat women's basketball team seeded 9th in MIAA tournament advances to the quarterfinals after Tuesday night's 77-72 win over Missouri Southern in Joplin. The Bearcats led for most of the game...building a 17 point lead early in the second half before Missouri Southern came back to make a game of it late. Northwest was paced by Ashleigh Nelson with 21 points...Annie Mathews had 14 points...Alexis Boeh 12 and Tember Schechinger 10. Bearcat women's head basketball coach Mark Kellogg says he likes the way his team has grown offensively in the last couple of weeks.
The Bearcats will play Washburn Friday at noon in a match at Municipal Auditorium...we'll have the broadcast beginning at 11:40 with our pregame.
The Northwest Missouri State men's basketball team will face Northeastern State in the quarterfinals of the men's bracket Thursday afternoon beginning at 2:15. KXCV/KRNW will broadcast the game beginning at 1:55 with our pregame from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.
