The Northwest Missouri State Bearcat baseball team picked up two non-conference wins over Midland University and Waldorf College Saturday at Bearcat Field. The Bearcats were slated to have the weekend off before adding the games. Northwest received two good pitching performances in shutting out Midland 3 to nothing. Ryker Fox struck out 11 in picking up the win. In the victory over Waldorf two Northwest pitchers combined to allow only one run in a 5 to 1 win. Chase Anderson got the start and was relieved by Brian Schmiedt. The Bearcats improve to 6 and 14 overall and return to action Tuesday for an M-I-double-A doubleheader with Missouri Western at Bearcat Field beginning at 1 o'clock.
The Bearcat softball team split a doubleheader with Central Missouri in games played in Platte City Saturday. The Bearcats dropped the first game 9 to 6 in 10 innings and won game two in five innings 13 to 4. The Bearcat softball team's record goes to 13 and 5 overall and 3 and 1 in the M-I-double-A. Northwest will host Missouri Western in a doubleheader Tuesday at Bearcat Field beginning at 2 o'clock.
On Friday the Northwest Missouri softball team swept Southwest Baptist in a conference doubleheader yesterday in Platte City...winning 14 to 1 in the first game and 7 to 3 in game two. The doubleheader was originally scheduled for Maryville but was moved to Platte City due to poor field conditions at Bearcat Field. The Bearcats opened up the first game with five runs each in the first and second innings. S-B-U opened up a 3 to nothing lead in game two before the Bearcats bats came to life.
The Northwest men's and women's tennis team's picked up wins over East-Central of Oklahoma Friday in matches held on the Northwest campus. The women posted a 6-3 win to improve to 4 and 3 while East-Central fell to 1 and 4. The Bearcat men defeated East-Central 7-2 to improve to 5 and 1...the East-Central men fall to 2 and 6. The Northwest men host Missouri Valley Monday. The Northwest women are off until Wednesday when they host Missouri Western.
