The College of Cardinals have elected a new Pope. Pope Francis, a 76 year old Argentine son of an Italian emigrant.

Francis was elected after five ballots, and is the first pontiff from Latin America. President of Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, Stephen Minnis says Francis is known for his desire to connect with all the poor.
