Livingston County 911 Changes

Coffey

Livingston County, MO (2013-03-15)

In a continued effort to reduce costs in the Livingston County Sheriff's Department, 911 calls are now being routed through the Chillicothe Police Department.

Yesterday was the first official day for the change...Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox says the move could be beneficial for Livingston County residents.

Cox says six dispatchers in his office will lose their jobs due to the consolidation of 911 service in Livingston County. He also says because of the change his office will not be staffed 24 hours a day which means non-emergency calls will be routed to an automated answering service.
