Second Harvest Community Food Bank kicks off the Food Justice Movement Saturday.

The program is designed to raise awareness of hunger and to encourage communities to find ways to be part of the solution. Interim Executive Director Chad Higdon says hunger in Nodaway County alone is a serious current issue.

Higdon says Second Harvest has a goal of raising 400 thousand dollars during the Food Justice Movement. The money will be used to support Fresh Start - Your Community Market, Backpack Buddies, Close the Gap and Food Acquisition. Higdon adds donors and volunteers play a very significant role in the movement's success. To join the Food Justice Movement, you can visit ourcommunityfoodbank.org/hfjm. The Food Justice Movement kicks off at 4pm at the Velma Houts Fair Building in Rock Port on Saturday.
