MARYVILLE, MO (2012-03-29)
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is warning citizens about a possible scam that might have occurred in the area.
The patrol has been informed that residents have received calls from an individual claiming to be a license bureau agent. The caller told the citizen they needed to replace the number on their driver's license and asked for their social security number. The Highway Patrol would like to remind citizens that this is not proper protocol for the Missouri Department of revenue and that citizens should never provide any personal information, including their social security numbers, date of birth, or bank account numbers to anyone over the phone or through e-mail.
