ST. JOSEPH, MO (2012-03-05)
Our region's Red Cross Office in St. Joseph says they are on standby to help victims from the string of tornado producing super cells that killed nearly 40 people.
The outbreak happened late last week and into the weekend, destroying homes across the lower Midwest and America's southern states. Kevin Kirby with the midland empire chapter of the American Red Cross in St. Joseph says staffers there specifically trained for these types of disasters haven't yet been called but are ready if they are needed to deploy to the destroyed areas. Meanwhile, Kirby is asking regional residents to consider contributions to the local office. He says money given will be put into the National Red Cross's efforts to respond to disaster relief.
