Fire Risk

Wayman

MARYVILLE, MO (2012-03-12)

With soil moisture levels still lacking from a dry winter and early summer-like temperatures this week, our region faces a potentially dangerous fire danger the next several months.

The lack of snow, increased winds, and low humidity are all combining to create the increased fire risk. Maryville fire chief Phil Rickabaugh says you should always prepare before starting open burning. But he says the best solution is to wait on burning this year.

Forecasters say the fire danger for our Midwest corners region could last through May.
