GENTRY COUNTY, MO (2011-03-02)
The Gentry County Prosecuting Attorney is in trouble with the state auditor.
Missouri state auditor Tom Schweich has released the state's 2010 criminal activity forfeiture act, which requires prosecuting attorneys and the attorney general to submit a list of all seized property and cash to state law. However, 9 county prosecuting attorneys, including Gentry's, have failed to submit the property seizure information. The auditor's office says without those reports, it's impossible to accurately value the property seized within Missouri's borders. He says that could effect the amount of dollars the state's public schools receive from such seizures. The auditor says he's sent letters to prosecuting attorneys and to law enforcement agencies who failed to turn in the seized property lists.
