GRANT, IA (2011-03-01)
The town of Grant Iowa is worried it could lose its post office.
About 50 residents recently attended a meeting to hear officials from the US Postal Service explain why they are considering closing the post office. The service recently announced they are considering closing 2,000 offices across the country because of lower mail volume and profits. Grant mayor Zelda Schwartz says losing the post office would hurt the community's identity and it would do anything but increase mail traffic. Postal officials will have 60 days to appeal if a closure is recommended.
