MARYVILLE, MO (2011-03-17)
The 102 River received good news on Tuesday afternoon.
A Missouri Department of Natural Resources Investigation this week finds there is no longer a oil sheen on the 102 which runs on Maryville's east side and serves as water supply for some down-stream communities. State inspectors say the river was contaminated when some of the 6,000 gallons of fuel-water mix leaked into the river. The DNR says contamination stemmed from Maryville's CMC Factory in late February. DNR officials also report the leak at the plant has been taken care of and no longer poses any risks.
