MISSOURI STATE (2010-3-1) Missouri school districts across the State will have to make up a 2% funding shortfall.
Letters went out to districts last week after the 2% withholding in Missouri's funding formula by governor Jay Nixon. This means several districts in our region will receive thousands less than anticipated. For example, Chillicothe's budget will see more than $141,000 shortfall. Trenton will be more than $86,000 short. Brookfield will see more than a $90,000 cut in State funding. And Princeton nearly $22,000. In response State lawmakers are offering an amendment that would "Hold Harmless" about 180 smaller school districts from getting their funding cut as much. That proposal is currently working its way through the Statehouse.
