MARYVILLE, MO (2010-3-22) The Missouri house starts debate on 13 budget bills this week.
But the cuts in those bills still don't make up an almost certain funding shortfall. Governor Jay Nixon is pushing for about a half billion dollars in cuts but the house budget committee only made 90 million in cuts. Budget committee chair Allen Icet expects more cuts may come this week. Democrats in Jefferson City accuse the republican majority of trying to pass an unbalanced budget. The senate is also expected to make cuts in its own budget bills.
