K-12 Funding

Wayman

MISSOURI STATE (2010-3-8) The senator from St. Joseph says funding K-through-12 education in Missouri is going to be very difficult.

Despite this and Missouri's ever-decreasing revenue picture- the chair of the house budget committee wants to fully fund the State's public schools. But the senator from St. Joseph says funding K-through-12 education in Missouri is going to be very difficult. Allen Icet wants to increase the funding by $106 million while making cuts to other areas of State government. But senate president pro-tem Charlie Shields of St. Joseph doubts ICET's proposal will survive the legislative session. The governor has proposed an $18 million increase for K-through-12 schools in Missouri but that's still $87 million below what would be considered fully funded.
