MARYVILLE, MO (2009-03-16) Construction for the new Fairfax community hospital is scheduled to begin this spring.
The current facility- which is more than 50 years old, needs many other major repairs, including a sprinkler system.
Even though dirt-work has started, one issue of concern is lack of water pressure.
The hospital must receive 850 gallons of water per second to supply the fire safety system.
There was a concern this would slow construction but hospital board member Bill Slaughter says that's not the case.
Slaughter says he hopes to see the new building up this summer and the new hospital operational by next summer.
