ATCHISON COUNTY, KS (2012-06-20)
The city of Atchison and the County continue discussing a solid waste proposal.
Both governments are getting information on how many entities are eligible to be given the proposed solid waste fee. About 6 thousand residential properties and 525 non-residential properties in Atchison County Kansas could be eligible. Officials plan to meet with two of the largest waste producers to discuss how much they produce. For non-residential properties, they determined it to be an average of 26 cubic yards a year. The proposed fee is tentatively set for 72 dollars per 26 cubic yards for non-residential. County commissioner Jeff Schuele says the residential rate is still up in the air.
The Atchison County commissioners must implement a fee by July first.© Copyright, KXCV
