The National Weather Service issues a new report on the record flooding our region experienced last summer.
The Weather Service concludes while its Missouri River flooding forecasts were appreciated by local emergency officials, there is room for improvement. A Weather Service panel says additional forecast locations could have helped, along with more frequent forecasts, short-term probabilities of flooding, and improved use of existing weather observers along the Missouri River. In all, 46 recommendations for improvement came out of the study.
