MO Fatalities Down

Wayman

ST. JOSEPH, MO (2012-06-05)

The number of people dying on Missouri roads continues to drop.

The Highway Patrol says the number of traffic fatalities dropped 5 percent last year compared to the year before. St. Joseph Highway Patrol Sergeant Sheldon Lyon says this trend started in 2005 and has continued since. He credits three issues for the reduced deaths:enforcement, engineering, and education.

Last year 773 people were killed in Missouri traffic accidents.
