ST. JOSEPH, MO (2012-06-26)
The Missouri National Guard's Partner in Care initiative and Second Harvest Community Food Bank in St. Joseph have announced a new partnership.
The two groups will work together to assist Citizen- Soldiers and Airmen with another layer of support. The partnership with the National Guard came after Second Harvest announced earlier this month a new military friendly-policy that allows all current or previous service members and their families to forego the qualification process normally required to receive food assistance. Jennifer Archdekin of the Missouri National Guard says this will make it easier for those struggling with hunger to receive help.In order for service members to receive food assistance they need only to provide a current military ID or VA card. A DD-214 will also be accepted.
