Missouri State Highway Patrol will take extra security measures during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
The Highway Patrol wants to ensure the safety of all travelers and boaters during one of the busiest holidays of the year. Captain Tim Hull says every available officer will be put on the road to enforce traffic laws and assist any motorists who may become stranded. This is due part of the national campaign called Operation C.A.R.E.
Although more crashes seem to occur with motor vehicles than on the water, Hull says the potential is everywhere and says boaters and motorists should take safety precautions.Operation C.A.R.E. will have troopers traveling the state on July 3rd through July 8th. Motorist's who need assistance or who witness criminal activity while traveling on Missouri's roads can contact the nearest Highway Patrol troop headquarters by calling 1-800-525-5555 or star 55 on a cell phone.
