Farm Bill Passes

Wayman

MO (2012-06-22)

The Missouri Senate delegation is applauding the passage in the Senate of the federal 2012 Farm Bill.

The trimmed-down measure takes out 23 billion dollars over the next 10 years from the previous farm bill. One of the biggest changes is doing away with direct payments to farmers for a subsidy program. Missouri Senator Roy Blunt says it still protects insurance programs... despite some concern in the Senate those getting the federal money would no longer be a matter of public record.

Senator Claire McCaskill also voted for the bill and is encouraging the U-S House members to do the same.
