The deadline is approaching for area residents hit by last Fall's flooding and severe weather to get disaster loans.
The Farm Service Agency is accepting applications through this evening at 5. The government loans can be used to repair or replace buildings or to compensate for the loss of livestock, crops, or supplies. Qualifications include a farmer suffering 30 percent loss in production or an actual physical loss that was essential to operating the farm. The emergency loans are for an interest rate of 3.75 percent. To sign up you can contact your local FSA office.
