ATCHISON, KS (2012-06-26)
A 73-year old Atchison, Kansas man will have a competency evaluation to see if he is able to stand trial on a sex charge.
Atchison County Judge Martin Asher gave the order, in Atchison County District Court, for Norman Longbrake to be sent to the Larned State Hospital last week. As a result, his trial on the charge of aggravated indecent liberties with a child that was scheduled for June 26th as been put on hold. Longbrake pleaded not guilty to the count in April. His attorney, Rex Lane, filed a motion earlier this month, indicating Longbrake may be suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's-related symptoms.
