Educators Meeting

Holley

WASHINGTON, MO (2012-06-27)

Educators from across the country will be meeting in Washington, D.C. next week.

President of the Missouri National Education Association, Chris Guinther will be among those attending the National Education Association's Representative Assembly. Guinther says educators will take the opportunity to discuss challenges to public education. She believes too little funding for public schools is a tremendous problem, but Missouri schools are working through that lack of funding.

Guinther says Missouri is 48th in funding for public schools with about 57 percent of the funding coming from local governments. Because they are so heavily invested in their local schools, Guinther says it is important that parents be involved in school district decisions.
