ST. JOSEPH, MO (2011-06-30)
Residents of St. Joseph will hear flood warning sirens being tested tomorrow at 3 in the afternoon and emergency officials want to make sure no one mistakes them for the real thing.
Officials released their finalized emergency plan calling for sirens to sound only if a levee fails, they will not be sounded for evacuations, voluntary or mandatory. St. Joseph emergency management coordinator George Albert says says the tornado sirens will have a different sound for the flood emergency.
Here is the difference: This is the normal tornado siren in St. Joseph, a continuous tone. And here is the flood breech sirens with more of a dip in the tone.Again, this flood siren will be tested as a drill only tomorrow afternoon at 3 O'clock in St. Joseph.© Copyright, KXCV
