Northwest Missouri State has a new head football coach.

Adam Dorrel was named this morning to replace Scott Bostwick, who died unexpectedly earlier this month. Dorrel played under Mel Tjeerdsma and has been on the Bearcat Coaching Staff since 2004 and now leads a program making the NCAA Division 2 playoffs 13 of the last 15 seasons. Dorrel says under his leadership, the Bearcat culture will continue.

Northwest's athleteic director Wren Baker says after a 3 hour job interview, it was clear Dorrel is the choice.Dorrel paid tribute to the coaches that went before him, but says he will use his experience to move the team forward.Dorrel's first game as head coach will be in less than 70 days as Northwest takes on Truman for the historic hickory stick game which will be heard here on the Flagship Station of the Bearcat Radio Network, KXCV-KRNW.
