Kansas City Power and Light prepares for the rising Missouri River.

KCP & L has been watching the river levels closely and has taken steps to help protect the public as well as their workers. Spokesperson for KCP & L Courtney Beatty says they are doing the things to stay ahead of the rising water.

Beatty adds for customers who are evacuating, turn off the power at the breaker and unplug appliances before you leave.
