Extreme heat for our region the next two days has prompted an excessive heat warning for all of our Missouri and Kansas listening area.

Medical authorities at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville say you can easily avoid the health dangers the next 48 hours. Pat Giffin is the Emergency Department nurse manager at St. Francis. She says you can help yourself even before going out in the heat.

Giffin suggests sun screen should also be part of your heat preparations. She adds children and senior citizen's skin can be most susceptible to sunshine and if you stop sweating, take immediate cool-down actions. Don't wait.
