TARKIO, MO (2011-06-02)
US Congressman Sam Graves of Tarkio is calling on the Army Corps of Engineers to slow down the release of water on the Missouri River to keep Show-Me-State property from flooding.
Graves has called the Corps saying he understands the need to release water because of rains this Spring. But regulators are expected to release 150,000 cubic feet of water per second, a rate Graves says could top levees throughout the state along the Missouri River. His office says they haven't yet gotten a response from the Corps on whether they will re-examine their plan.
