Flood Job Threats

Wayman

ST. JOSEPH, MO (2011-06-28)

About half a dozen companies in St. Joseph have started moving operations to higher ground even before flood waters escape.

The St. Joseph Metro Chamber is coordinating those efforts with real estate companies, but warns jobs could be effected. Chamber president Ted Allison says some daily operations are already starting to change for 3 to 4,000 workers in St. Joseph's Stockyards Industrial Park.

The chamber says even greater challenges will come after the floods are over later this summer and resources to rebuild will have to be mobilized for employers.
