MARYVILLE, MO (2011-06-01)
Two regional residents are indicted after a federal crack-down that nets more than $1.4 million in drug money.
The US District attorney's office in Kansas City says 42 year old Clinton Sibbit of Trenton and 49 year old Rodney Bethards of Laredo are among 21 people accused of multiple drug-trafficking conspiracies. Most of the federal defendants are from the Kansas City area. Besides federal agencies involved, the indictments are part of the "Nitro" partnership among north Missouri law enforcers. An ATF spokesman says Grundy County Sheriff's Department, US Marshall's Office, and others have been watching the accused and building cases against them for several years. The federal indictment says the ring, including Sibbit and Bethards, have tried to distribute pure methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana since 2008. One suspect is even charged with possessing an Israeli military industries pistol. Investigators say Sibbit, already a convicted felon, was in possession of a revolver and a rifle. Also seized in the drug ring arrests are 3 house in Kansas City, Kansas and a couple of vehicles.
