CAMERON, MO (2011-06-14)
A major electric co-op in north Missouri is working to avoid disaster as the Missouri River continues to rise.
NW Electric Power Cooperative based in Cameron has 4 or 5 sub-stations that could be threatened by flooding the next several months. The plan is to install the lines to the next highest hill, then bring in a portable sub-station, hook it up, and feed it out if one of the permanent sub-stations is hit. Gene Dorrel serves on the NW Board and is general manager of united Electric in Maryville. He says they are standing by to offer any help they can to the regional transmission co-op.
