Back Up Floods

Wayman

KANSAS CITY, MO (2011-06-23)

Even communities not on the Missouri River aren't immune to flooding during the next several weeks.

That's the message from the National Weather Service near Kansas City. Scott Watson is a hydrologist there and confirms the Swollen Missouri is starting to back up into tributaries like the Nodaway River at Nodaway and the Little Tarkio River in Holt county. He adds residents in these areas shouldn't let their guard down.

Watson says the length other regional rivers will flood because of the Missouri backing up will also be determined by how much rain our region gets, adding right now next week looks to be drier.
