Jefferson City, MO (2010-06-02) Missouri Governor Jay Nixon is hoping St. Joseph can help make up the millions in revenue now that the Tour of Missouri bike race is all but dead.
Nixon points to the 150th anniversary celebration of the Pony Express as a boost to the state's economy.
He says the state is using what little tourism money it has to support activities... such as the Pony Express anniversary and the state parks, which are seeing a boost in attendance over last year.
The Governor says he supports the State Tourism Commission's decision not to fund the Tour of Missouri... saying Missouri can still attract tourism dollars in other ways.
