MARYVILLE, MO (2010-06-28) Local offices providing child support and other services tell us they don't know what an initial state plan to consolidate offices could mean.
The State Department of Social Services is reviewing a plan to consolidate offices in Andrew, Atchison, Caldwell, Clinton, Daviess, Dekalb, Gentry, Holt, Livingston, Nodaway and Worth counties into the one office based in St. Joseph.
Scott Rowson is a spokesman with the state office and says the proposal is to save money but keep customer service.
Rowson adds staff in the county offices are expected to keep jobs but transfer to other work places.
He says there's no timeline on acting on the proposal.
