Shields on Session

Wayman

St. Joseph, MO (2010-06-25) The Senator from St. Joseph says what is typically a one week special session in Missouri could expand to two weeks or even three.

Outgoing Senate President Pro-Tem Charlie Shields was called back for the last time yesterday as the special session opened.

Just two items are on the agenda- tax credits for the Ford Motor Company's Kansas City plant..... and restructuring the state pension session.

But Shields predicts the special session could stretch beyond the one week time frame.

Both of the versions of the state pension overhaul would require newly-hired state workers to pay into their pension plans.
