Mo Edu

Jefferson City, MO (2010-06-28) Missouri's education funding was signed into law Friday.. and now school districts are facing tough choices since the teacher's compensation package known as "Career Ladder" wasn't funded for next year.

The head of one of the state's largest teacher's unions is offering a possible solution.

Special education teacher Chris Guinther (gun-thur) is the president of the Missouri National Education Association.

She says the extra pay career ladder brought to teachers should be part of their regular salary.

Guinther adds the re-authorization of the Federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act has serious flaws and could negativly impact Missouri schools if passed as-is.
