MARYVILLE, MO (2010-06-08) No evidence yet in the great Northwest Missouri alligator search.

Since Memorial Day weekend rumors have been flying of possible sightings of 2 alligators- anywhere from a foot to 3 feet in length.

The gators were supposedly spotted at Mozingo Lake- just east of Maryville.

City Manager Matt LaCurf says city crews have been keeping an eye out as they're working at the 3 thousand acre facility... but so far the rumors...... have turned out to be just that.

Stories of exotic fish or other species often surface with the theory someone dumped a pet in a nearby pond or stream.

There's no word on if that's how the stories at Maryville got started.
