Trenton, MO (2010-06-18) The eighth annual trenton, missouri gooseberry festival gets underway this evening and lasts throughout the weekend.

Founder of the festival...Nick McCarg...says he felt there's was a need for some kind of summer event in Trenton.
Activities this weekend include gooseberry baking contests, country music, an art show, five k/10k walk-run, rodeo, tennis tournament and arm-wrestling contest. McCarg says this weekend's event in Trenton is the only Gooseberry Festival in North America.
