Rock Port, MO (2010-06-23) Atchison County, Missouri residents are voluntary packing up and leaving their homes fearing levees won't hold much longer.
Levee district officials report they are worried that more water could flow into the river, making the situation worse.
Sandbagging efforts started yesterday with tremendous help from volunteers around the area.
Ashelter is open at the United Methodist Church in Rock Port, and Emergency Management Director Rhonda Wiley says they are prepared to help evacuees seek shelter.
Wiley also says that as of now, a mandatory evacuation does not appear likely and many families, so far, seem to be well prepared for the floods.
