MARYVILLE, MO (2009-06-08) The time is slipping by for area producers to consider a new payment program.
Created by the last Farm Bill, the "Average Crop Revenue Election"- or "ACRE" is a new program this year that ties individual farm yields to the state's benchmark yield.
Mary Ann Adkinson with the Nodaway County F-S-A office says producers can crunch numbers at the F-S-A office to see if the program is for them.
The "ACRE" program could potentially have more consistent payments than the counter-cyclical program, which has just paid out twice in the last 5 years.
The deadline to enter the "ACRE" program is August 14th.
