Pleasant Hill, MO (2009-06-25) Winds hitting Maryville this morning are believed to be the effects of a microburst.

What exactly is a microburst?

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill says the damage area is much broader in a microburst than that of a tornado.

The National Weather Service blames a microburst for the damage around Maryville this morning saying the damage would have been much worse and in a narrower area had a tornado touched down.
