Jefferson City, MO (2009-06-08) Missouri's Community Colleges and Universities will get state funding to work with companies to design specific job-training programs.
That's one of the components of the new job creation bill just signed into law by Missouri Governor Jay Nixon.
The legislation was one of his top priorities for this session.
The Show-Me-Jobs Initiative also expand tax credit and incentive programs and makes it less expensive for companies to hire people or expand.
Still…. Governor Nixon isn't putting a number on how fast the programs would reduce the state's 8-point-7 percent jobless rate.
Negotiations for the Missouri's job creation law lasted until the final night of the General Assembly's 2009 session.
