Brownville, Neb. (2009-06-02) Brownville residents might want to rethink their usual route when leaving the City.
The Brownville Bridge on U.S. Route 136 from Nemaha County, Nebraska, to Atchison County, Missouri will soon undergo repairs.
MoDot spokeswoman Elaine Justice says funding for the repairs come from the 9 million dollars awarded to the project under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The City plans to repair the bridges sub structure, build a new deck and railings, and re-paint the historic bridge.
Justice says they are going to schedule closings where they will least affect the City of Brownville.
The contract is scheduled to be awarded in August and repairs to start in October.
Repairs should take a year and the bridge will have one lane open during repairs to the deck and railings.
