Amelia Earhart Bridge

Atchison, Ks. (2009-06-25) Work has started on the 59 million dollar bridge project connecting Missouri and Kansas.

A media tour is today to showcase pre-construction progress at the Amelia Earhart Memorial Bridge at Atchison Kansas.

The new 4-lane structure is being built around a hundred feet south of the existing bridge- built in the 1930's- which engineers have deemed too old to rehabilitate.

Traffic will continue on it until the new structure is completed, which should be the fall of 20-11.

A groundbreaking for the project is set for a week from today.
