The Missouri State Highway Patrol will be switching from their current radio system to a new statewide system.
Troop H is currently conducting a survey in preparation for the switch to assure there are no dead zones. Sergeant Sheldon Lyon says the new system will allow troops from around the state to take over communications in event of an emergency.
In order to conduct the survey, Sergeant Lyon adds some unmarked patrol cars may be driving at slow speeds in rural areas. Citizens are not to be alarmed if they see one of these vehicles. Each unmarked vehicles will be occupied by a Patrol member and two employees of the Motorola Company. The survey is expected to last several months, but Lyon assures it will not affect the public. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is excited to get the new system, and to open communication up statewide.© Copyright, KXCV
