A law has been expanded to include the safety of Missouri Department of Transportation employees.
Governor Jay Nixon signed a Senate Bill into law that expands the 2002 "Slow Down and Move Over" law that protects enforcement and emergency response vehicles parked on the side of the road to include MoDot vehicles. Customer Relations Manager for MoDot in St. Joseph Melissa Black says the number one goal is to keep people safer on the road.
Black says MoDot and the Transportation Employees Association of Missouri are dedicating a new memorial for fallen MoDot workers on the Capitol grounds in Jefferson City near MoDot's central office. The memorial is a tribute to the 128 employees who have fallen in the line of duty since 1946 and is funded through private donations. The dedication takes place at 9:30 am on Monday, July 16th.© Copyright, KXCV
