Keystone Pipeline

The Keystone XL pipeline, proposed in 2009, underwent environmental assessments which found the project would not pose any significant risk to the environment.

Earlier this year, though, the Obama Administration denied the permit needed to complete the pipeline. The company seeking to construct the pipeline, TransCanada, has since reapplied for the permit. In the new application, Trans Canada has addressed environmental concerns raised by the Nebraska state legislature. U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill says she has written a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, asking for swift approval of the new Keystone Pipeline application.

In the letter, McCaskill says the pipeline would provide significant benefits for our country, such as improving American energy security and boosting our economy.
