If state regulators approve it, and rights-of-way can be agreed on, Iowa may see the "Rock Island Clean Line" being built over the next few years.
It's a high-voltage transmission line to transport 3500 megawatts of renewable energy from Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and Minnesota to Illinois and other states farther east. At the Center for Rural Affairs, energy policy advocate Johnathan Hladik says if the line is built, it will mean thousands of jobs for this part of the country.
